Aren't these two cutie-pies?
They're also concerned citizens who baked chocolate chip cookies -- no Nestlé Toll House recipe, mind you -- and whipped up a batch of pink lemonade, then sat out in the hot sun over Labor Day weekend to make money for the survivors of Hurricane Katrina. That's right, these ten year olds planned to donate every penny to the American Red Cross. How cool is that?
Mr. Food Musings and I stopped by their stand (in Los Olivos, California) and couldn't help but buy up a bit of everything. Eat chocolate for a good cause? Sign me up, and hand over the cookies. (And damn if they weren't really, really good!)
Seriously folks -- if you haven't already, please click on the American Red Cross button on my blog and consider doing anything you can to help the hurricane survivors. Imagine how it would feel to have lost everything -- your home, your clothes, your pots and pans and family recipes, possibly even your loved ones -- and how much it would mean for a stranger to reach out and try to help.
These girls are the age of the students I teach. You're never too young to be generous & kind to others. Bravo!
