Who am I? Good question.
I grew up in the South.
There, it wasn't uncommon for a meal to include more platters of food than people. I survived on a childhood of sausage biscuits, fried chicken, fried clams, ham rolls, shrimp cocktail, pickled peaches, homemade ice cream, and lemon tarts. I thought that getting tomatoes from a paper bag your neighbor left on the front stoop, or knowing the name of your favorite corn was normal (Silver Queen was mine).
I have a masters degree in Russian. I have worked as a secretary, a travel agent, and a shopgirl. Right now, I'm a suit at an ad agency by day -- but a girl always has to eat.
I'm also a San Francisco-based freelance food writer. I've written about everything from chocolate to local farms to local restaurants, and my work has appeared in Best Food Writing, Flavours, Olive, and the Oakland Tribune. I currently write for Edible San Francisco, The Onion, Northside San Francisco, and KQED's Bay Area Bites.
